F07806Drive: Regenerative power limit exceeded (F3E)

What it means

Fault F07806 is raised when the motor feeds more power back into the drive than the power unit is rated for in regeneration. The monitoring exists only for blocksize power units of the types PM250 and PM260: the drive compares the fed-back power against the regenerative rated power r0206[2] and trips when that limit is exceeded for more than 10 s. The fault text carries the designation F3E. When the fault trips, the drive coasts down and must be acknowledged before it will start again.

Why it appears

  • The connected power unit is a blocksize type PM250 or PM260.
  • Power flowing back into the drive exceeded the regenerative rated power r0206[2] for more than 10 s.

What to check

  1. Increase the down ramp, so the drive decelerates the motor more gently and less power is fed back.
  2. Reduce the driving load.
  3. Use a power unit with a higher regenerative feedback capability.
  4. For vector control, reduce the regenerative power limit in p1531 so that the fault is no longer triggered.

Parameters the manual names

  • r0206 (Rated power unit power / PU P_rated): index [2] of this parameter is the regenerative rated power of the power unit — the limit whose exceedance for more than 10 s raises F07806.
  • p1531 (Power limit regenerative): for vector control, the regenerative power limit can be reduced here so that the fault is no longer triggered.

Acknowledging and restarting

Acknowledge the fault immediately. Before restarting, make sure at least the remedy chosen above has been applied — otherwise the drive trips again as soon as the fed-back power exceeds r0206[2] for more than 10 s.

What differs between the drive families

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F07806 mean on a SINAMICS G120 or G120XA?

It means the regenerative power limit was exceeded: on blocksize power units PM250 and PM260, the regenerative rated power r0206[2] was exceeded for more than 10 s. The drive coasts down until the fault is acknowledged.

How do I clear fault F07806?

Increase the down ramp, reduce the driving load, or — for vector control — reduce the regenerative power limit in p1531. If these measures are not enough, use a power unit with a higher regenerative feedback capability, then acknowledge the fault.

Which power units can trigger F07806?

Only blocksize power units of the types PM250 and PM260. On other power units this monitoring does not raise the fault.

Which parameter sets the regenerative power limit for F07806?

p1531 (Power limit regenerative). For vector control it can be reduced so that the fault is no longer triggered; r0206[2] shows the regenerative rated power the monitoring compares against.
