F07752Drive: Piston position not possible

What it means

F07752 means the drive cannot use the piston position. The piston has been calibrated — the zero point calibration value in p0476 is not 0 — and the absolute position is available (p1407.3 = 1), yet the piston position actual value r0094 is not plausible: it is negative or higher than the cylinder piston stroke set in p0313. The same condition can also be issued as an alarm (A); in that case the manual notes there is no reaction and nothing to acknowledge.

Why it appears

  • The piston has been calibrated (p0476 is not 0) and the absolute position is available (p1407.3 = 1), so the drive expects a usable piston position.
  • Despite this, the piston position actual value r0094 is not plausible: it is negative or higher than the cylinder piston stroke set in p0313.

What to check

  1. Check the position inversion (p0410.1).
  2. Check the direction convention: r0094 must be zero when the piston is located at the A side, and when moving from the A to the B side, the velocity and position increase must be positive.
  3. Check the piston calibration; if required, recalibrate the piston with the piston at the A side (p1909.1 = 1).
  4. If the encoder has been replaced, recalibrate the piston.
  5. If the machine zero point has been shifted, recalibrate the piston.

Parameters the manual names

  • p0476 (Piston zero point calibration value): the stored calibration value; it must be set to 0 before this fault is acknowledged, and a value not equal to 0 shows the piston has been calibrated.
  • r0094 (CO: Piston position actual value): the piston position the drive judges; it must read zero at the A side and must not be negative or higher than the stroke.
  • p0313 (Cylinder piston stroke): the upper limit of plausibility; r0094 must not exceed the stroke entered here.
  • p0410 (Encoder inversion actual value): check the position inversion at p0410.1 as the first remedy step.
  • p1909 (Data identification without enabling activation): set p1909.1 = 1 to recalibrate the piston with the piston at the A side, completely retracted.
  • p1959 (Data identification moving configuration): set p1959.2 = 1 as the alternative way to start the new calibration.
  • p1960 (Moving measurement selection): set p1960 = 1 together with p1959.2 for that calibration.

Acknowledging and restarting

The manual prescribes the sequence: Before acknowledging the fault, set p0476 = 0. Then calibrate the piston again — either set p1909.1 = 1 with the piston completely retracted, or set p1959.2 = 1 and p1960 = 1. Recalibration is also required whenever the encoder has been replaced or the machine zero point has been shifted.

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F07752 mean in SINAMICS S120 or S150?

The drive considers the piston position r0094 implausible: although the piston is calibrated (p0476 is not 0) and the absolute position is available (p1407.3 = 1), r0094 is negative or larger than the stroke in p0313.

How do I clear fault F07752?

Set p0476 = 0 first and then acknowledge the fault. Afterwards recalibrate the piston, either with p1909.1 = 1 and the piston completely retracted, or with p1959.2 = 1 and p1960 = 1.

Why does F07752 appear after replacing the encoder?

The manual requires recalibrating the piston whenever the encoder is replaced or the machine zero point is shifted. Without recalibration the position value no longer matches the drive's direction convention.

What direction convention must the piston position follow?

The piston position r0094 must be zero when the piston is located at the A side. When moving from the A to the B side, the velocity and position increase must be positive.
