F07417Drive: Pulse technique not plausible (motor model)

What it means

The motor model of the drive uses a pulse technique: test pulses are injected and their response is evaluated so that field-oriented control also works at standstill. F07417 is raised when the evaluation of the test pulse response indicated incorrect values. The drive coasts down, and the fault value stored in r0949 (interpret decimal) tells which of three situations the drive detected: an impermissible pulse technique configuration during ramp-up, a repeatedly implausible pulse response, or a measured pulse response far above the expected value.

Why it appears

  • The pulse technique was selected when the system powered up (p1750.5 = 1), but the power unit component does not support the oversampling currently required (see r0192.23), so the drive deselects p1750.0 automatically (fault value 0).
  • The power unit component is incorrectly configured, or the component is faulty, so the pulse response is repeatedly implausible (fault value 10).
  • Strong oscillations, a motor that is short-circuited for high frequencies (output filter) or a damaged motor make the measured pulse response much higher than expected for the specified pulse amplitude (fault value 20).

What to check

  1. Read the fault value in r0949 (decimal) and continue according to that value.
  2. Fault value 0: the pulse technique has already been deselected automatically (p1750.5 = 0). Either acknowledge the fault and save p1750.5 = 0 — field-oriented control to standstill is then not used and is replaced by a transition to open-loop control at low speeds — or upgrade the power unit firmware to at least V4.3 so that field-oriented control to standstill remains available.
  3. Fault value 10: with the pulse technique still selected (p1750.5 = 1), switch the Control Unit and the power unit off and on together again (POWER ON), or carry out a manual warm restart with p0009 = 30 and p0976 = 2 or 3. If this does not solve the problem, replace the power unit component.
  4. Fault value 20: check whether the control parameters were changed (factory setting, commissioning). Filters must not be connected between motor and converter/inverter. Check the motor.

Reading the message value

  • 0 — An impermissible pulse technique configuration was detected during ramp-up: the pulse technique was initially selected when the system powered up (p1750.5 = 1), but the power unit component does not support the current oversampling required (see r0192.23); as a consequence p1750.0 was deselected automatically.
  • 10 — The pulse response is repeatedly implausible: incorrect configuration of the power unit component, or the power unit component is faulty.
  • 20 — For the specified pulse amplitude, the measured pulse response is much higher than the expected value: strong oscillations have occurred, the motor is short-circuited for high frequencies (output filter), or the motor is damaged.

How the drive comes back depends on the fault value: after value 0, acknowledge the fault and save p1750.5 = 0 (or upgrade the power unit firmware to at least V4.3 first, if field-oriented control to standstill should remain available). After value 10, switch the Control Unit and power unit off and on together again, or carry out the manual warm restart (p0009 = 30, p0976 = 2 or 3). For value 20, correct the cause listed in the checks before acknowledging and restarting.
