F07407Drive: Vdc reduction not permissible

What it means

F07407 reports that the drive wants to reduce the line voltage while that reduction is not permissible in the present configuration. For chassis power units, the reduction of the line voltage (see r0212.0) is only possible for closed-loop control of the DC link voltage. The fault therefore points to a configuration conflict: the line voltage reduction is set up, but closed-loop DC link voltage control is not active for the motor/generator. The manuals for the S120, S150, G130 and G150 describe this code identically, so the same explanation and the same remedy apply whichever family raised it.

Why it appears

  • For chassis power units, the reduction of the line voltage (see r0212.0) is only possible for closed-loop control of the DC link voltage.
  • The drive is configured for line voltage reduction while closed-loop DC link voltage control is not active for the motor/generator.

What to check

  1. Activate DC link voltage control for the motor/generator.
  2. Alternatively, deactivate the line voltage reduction by setting p0212.0 = 0 (the setting belongs to p0212, the power unit configuration).

Parameters the manual names

  • p0212 (power unit configuration / PU config): this is where the line voltage reduction that triggers F07407 is switched; setting p0212.0 = 0 deactivates the reduction.

Acknowledging and restarting

The drive coasts down (OFF2) when this fault trips. Correct the configuration first — either activate DC link voltage control for the motor/generator or deactivate the line voltage reduction (p0212.0 = 0) — and then acknowledge the fault immediately so the drive can restart.

The same on every family

Every manual that describes F07407 gives it the same reaction, acknowledgement and message class.

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F07407 on a SINAMICS drive mean?

It reports that the reduction of the line voltage is not permissible in the current configuration. For chassis power units, that reduction is only possible when the drive operates with closed-loop control of the DC link voltage.

How do I clear F07407?

Either activate DC link voltage control for the motor/generator, or deactivate the line voltage reduction by setting p0212.0 = 0. Afterwards acknowledge the fault.

Which parameter is involved in F07407?

p0212, the power unit configuration. The line voltage reduction is set at p0212.0, and setting it to 0 deactivates the reduction; the manual cross-refers to this parameter for the fault.

Does F07407 trip the drive?

Yes, the drive coasts down (OFF2) when the fault trips. The fault is acknowledged immediately once the configuration has been corrected.
