F07355Drive: cogging torque compensation error when learning

What it means

F07355 is raised when the learning of the cogging torque compensation does not complete correctly. The message value (r0949, interpreted decimal) distinguishes two situations: a learning velocity that was too high, or a commutation angle offset that was changed although it is incorporated in the position. Depending on how the drive is configured, the same condition can also be signalled as an alarm or as a message that does not trip the drive.

Why it appears

  • The learning run ran with a velocity setpoint that is too high — above 5 [rpm] on a rotating axis or above 0.5 [m/min] on a linear axis (fault value 1).
  • The commutation angle offset (p0431) was changed while it is incorporated in the position (fault value 2).

What to check

  1. Read the fault value in r0949 (decimal interpretation) to see which of the two checks failed.
  2. For fault value 1: repeat learning with a lower velocity setpoint — the recommended speeds are 2 [rpm] for a rotating axis and 0.1 [m/min] for a linear axis.
  3. For fault value 2: carry out a new learning run and save the result.

Reading the message value

  • 1 — the learning velocity is too high: rotating — absolute value greater than 5 [rpm]; linear — absolute value greater than 0.5 [m/min].
  • 2 — the commutation angle offset (p0431) is incorporated in the position and was changed.

Parameters the manual names

  • r0949 — fault value: read it in decimal notation to tell the two cases apart (1 = learning velocity too high, 2 = commutation angle offset changed).
  • p0431 — angular commutation offset: if it is changed while incorporated in the position, a new learning run is required and must be saved.
  • p5250 — compensation configuration: the settings under which the cogging torque compensation and its learning are configured.
  • p5251 — activate learning of the cogging torque compensation: the command used to start the repeated or new learning run.

Acknowledging and restarting

As a fault, the message can be acknowledged straight away, so learning can be restarted as soon as the cause is removed: after fault value 1, repeat the learning run with a lower velocity; after fault value 2, perform the new learning run and save the result (p5251 starts the learning). If the drive signals the same condition only as an alarm or as a message without a trip, no acknowledgement is needed.

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F07355 mean in SINAMICS?

It means an error occurred while learning the cogging torque compensation. The fault value in r0949 (decimal) shows whether the learning velocity was too high (1) or the commutation angle offset p0431 was changed (2).

Why does F07355 come with fault value 1?

The learning velocity exceeded the permitted limit — greater than 5 [rpm] on a rotating axis or greater than 0.5 [m/min] on a linear axis. Repeat learning at the recommended speeds of 2 [rpm] (rotating) or 0.1 [m/min] (linear).

How do I clear F07355 with fault value 2?

The commutation angle offset (p0431) was changed while it is incorporated in the position. A new learning run is required, and its result must be saved.

Does F07355 need a special acknowledgement?

No — as a fault it can be acknowledged straight away, after which learning is repeated. If the drive is configured to show the condition as an alarm or as a message without a trip, no acknowledgement is needed at all.
