What it means

The SI processor 1 (P1) in the Control Unit (CU) reports that a system defect was detected — either before the last time the system booted or in the actual boot. The system might also have rebooted itself (reset). Which of these situations the drive has caught is shown by the fault value in r0949, interpreted hexadecimal: it distinguishes a defect from an earlier boot, a fault in the current booting/operation, a mismatch around the "STO via terminals at the Power Module" function (STO — Safe Torque Off) on a Power Module with terminals STO_A/STO_B, and a mismatch between the SI Motion monitoring clock cycles of the Control Unit and the Motor Module.

Why it appears

  • A system defect was detected before the last boot or in the actual one, and the system might have been rebooted (reset).
  • For a Power Module with "STO via terminals at the Power Module" (terminals STO_A/STO_B): the terminals are active (DIP switch to "ON") while the function has not been enabled — p9601.7 = p9801.7 = 0. The manuals describe this case for the G120.
  • The fault lies in the actual booting or in operation.
  • The SI Motion monitoring clock cycles of the Control Unit (p9500) and of the Motor Module (p9300) are, under certain circumstances, not the same; Safety message C01711/C30711 is displayed in addition.

What to check

  1. Read the fault value in r0949 and interpret it hexadecimal — the remedy depends on it.
  2. Carry out a POWER ON (switch-off/switch-on); this is the first remedy for every fault value.
  3. For fault value 40 hex: deactivate the terminals STO_A/STO_B on the Power Module (set both DIP switches to "OFF") or enable the "STO via terminals at the Power Module" function.
  4. For fault value 200000 hex, 400000 hex or 8000yy hex (yy any): ensure that the Control Unit is connected to the Power Module; for the G120, the remedy adds to deselect the "STO via terminals at the Power Module" function.
  5. For fault value 800004 hex: check that parameters p9500/p9300 are the same.
  6. Otherwise, upgrade the firmware to a later version and contact Technical Support.

The drive stores the fault value in r0949; interpret the value hexadecimal.

  • 40 hex — a Power Module with "STO via terminals at the Power Module" (STO_A/STO_B) has its terminals active (DIP switch to "ON") although the function is not enabled (p9601.7 = p9801.7 = 0).
  • 200000 hex, 400000 hex, 8000yy hex (yy any) — fault in the actual booting/operation.

Acknowledging and restarting

The drive coasts down (OFF2) and the fault must be acknowledged immediately before it will start again. Because the defect may already date from before the last boot, the first remedy is a POWER ON — switch the converter off and on again. If the fault then comes back, work through the value-specific checks and finally upgrade the firmware to a later version and contact Technical Support.
