C30701SI Motion P2: STOP B initiated

What it means

C30701 is a Safety Integrated message of the SI Motion P2 function: the drive is being stopped via a STOP B, that is, it brakes along the OFF3 ramp. The manual states that, as a result of this fault, once the delay time parameterized in p9356 has expired or once the speed has fallen below the threshold parameterized in p9360, message C30700 "STOP A initiated" is output (for G120 the manual names only the speed threshold in p9360 as the hand-over condition).

Why it appears

  • A stop request from the Control Unit; on G120 the manual names processor 1 as the source of the stop request.
  • The stop can be a subsequent response to the message C30714 "SI Motion: Safely-Limited Speed exceeded".
  • The stop can be a subsequent response to the message C30711 "Defect in a monitoring channel".
  • The stop can be a subsequent response to the message C30707 "tolerance for safe operating stop exceeded".
  • On S120, S150, G130 and G150 the manual additionally lists the messages C01715 "SI Motion CU: Safely-Limited Position exceeded" and C30716 "SI Motion MM: tolerance for safe motion direction exceeded" as triggers.

What to check

  1. Remove the cause of the fault on the Control Unit — on G120, on the monitoring channel of processor 1.
  2. Carry out a diagnostics routine for message C30714.
  3. Carry out a diagnostics routine for message C30711.
  4. Carry out a diagnostics routine for message C30707.
  5. On S120, S150, G130 and G150: carry out a diagnostics routine for message C30715 and for message C30716.

Parameters the manual names

  • p9356 (SI Mtn IL t_del MM, SI Motion STOP A delay time): the delay time after whose expiry the drive follows this STOP B with message C30700.
  • p9360 (SI Mtn IL v_sh MM, SI Motion STO shutdown velocity): the speed threshold below which the drive outputs C30700 after this STOP B.

Acknowledging and restarting

Once the cause has been removed, the message can be acknowledged. The manuals describe a safe acknowledgment without a POWER ON via the Terminal Module 54F (TM54F), the onboard F-DI (only CU310-2), PROFIsafe or the machine control panel. For G120 the manual states that the message can be acknowledged using "Acknowledge internal event".

What differs between the drive families

Questions technicians ask

What does C30701 SI Motion P2 STOP B initiated mean?

The Safety Integrated function SI Motion P2 has stopped the drive with a STOP B, i.e. braking along the OFF3 ramp. Once the p9356 time has expired or the speed has fallen below p9360, message C30700 (STOP A initiated) follows.

Why was STOP B initiated on my SINAMICS drive?

Either a stop request came from the Control Unit (processor 1 on G120), or the stop is the subsequent response to C30714, C30711 or C30707 — and on S120, S150, G130 and G150 also to C01715 or C30716.

How do I acknowledge and restart after C30701?

Remove the cause and carry out the diagnostics routine for the message that triggered the stop. Safe acknowledgment without POWER ON is possible via TM54F, onboard F-DI (only CU310-2), PROFIsafe or the machine control panel; on G120 via "Acknowledge internal event".

Why does C30700 appear after C30701?

The manual states that, as a result of this fault, after the p9356 time has expired or once the speed falls below the p9360 threshold, C30700 "STOP A initiated" is output.
