C30700SI Motion P2: STOP A initiated

What it means

C30700 is a safety message from the SI Motion P2 monitoring channel: the drive has been stopped with a STOP A. On the S120, S150, G130 and G150 the manual describes this as STO applied via the safety switch-off signal path of the Control Unit; on a G120 the pulses are suppressed via the safety switch-off signal path of processor 1. The STOP A can be a plain stop request, the response to a test stop whose STO did not become active within the parameterized time, or the follow-up reaction to another Safety Integrated message — for example a limit reached in the SAM (Safe Acceleration Monitor) or SBR (Safe Brake Ramp) monitoring.

Why it appears

  • A stop request — from the Control Unit; on a G120, from processor 1.
  • On the Control-Unit families, the STO was not active after the parameterized time in p9357 following test stop selection; the G120 manual words this as pulses not suppressed after test stop selection.
  • A subsequent response to the message C30706 (SAM/SBR limit exceeded).
  • A subsequent response to the message C30714 (Safely-Limited Speed exceeded).
  • A subsequent response to the message C30701 (STOP B initiated).
  • On the Control-Unit families only, a subsequent response to the message C01715 (Safely-Limited Position exceeded) or to the message C30716 (tolerance for safe motion direction exceeded).

What to check

  1. Remove the cause of the fault on the Control Unit — on a G120, on the monitoring channel of processor 1.
  2. Check the value in p9357 and increase it if required; this concerns the STO not becoming active in time after a test stop.
  3. Check the switch-off signal path: on the Control-Unit families the switch-off signal path of the Control Unit, including the DRIVE-CLiQ communication; on a G120 the switch-off signal path of processor 2.
  4. Carry out the diagnostics routine for whichever of the preceding messages occurred — C30706, C30714 or C30701 on every family, and on the Control-Unit families additionally C30715 and C30716.
  5. If the cause cannot be found, replace hardware: on the Control-Unit families the Motor Module, Power Module or Hydraulic Module, or the Control Unit; on a G120 the Power Module or the Control Unit.

Parameters the manual names

  • p9357 — SI Motion STO test time: the parameterized time within which the STO must become active after a test stop is selected; for this message, check the value and increase it if required.

Acknowledging and restarting

The message is cleared by acknowledging it, after which the drive can be restarted. On the Control-Unit families the manual lists four safe-acknowledgment routes that work without a POWER ON: Terminal Module 54F (TM54F), the onboard F-DI (only CU310-2), PROFIsafe and the machine control panel. On a G120 the message can be acknowledged using Acknowledge internal event.

Questions technicians ask

What does C30700 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

It is a Safety Integrated message: the SI Motion P2 monitoring channel has stopped the drive with a STOP A — STO via the safety switch-off signal path of the Control Unit, or on a G120 pulses suppressed via the switch-off signal path of processor 1.

How do I acknowledge and reset C30700?

On S120, S150, G130 and G150 the manual lists safe acknowledgment without a POWER ON via Terminal Module 54F (TM54F), the onboard F-DI (only CU310-2), PROFIsafe or the machine control panel. On a G120 use "Acknowledge internal event".

Why does C30700 come after another safety message?

It can be the subsequent response to C30706, C30714 or C30701 and, on the Control-Unit families, also to C01715 or C30716. Carry out the diagnostics routine for whichever of those messages occurred.

What should I check in p9357 for C30700?

p9357 is the SI Motion STO test time. If the STO was not active after this parameterized time following test stop selection, the drive raises C30700 — check the value and increase it if required.
