What it means
A33930 comes from Sensor Module Encoder 3 and reports that the Data logger function has saved data: while it was activated (p0437.0 = 1), a fault occurred on the Sensor Module, and the diagnostics data belonging to that fault was written to the memory card. The alarm itself is not a new malfunction — it tells you where the record of a previous Sensor Module fault can be found.
The data is stored in the folder /USER/SINAMICS/DATA/ on the memory card as the files SMTRC00.BIN ... SMTRC07.BIN, together with the index file SMTRCIDX.TXT. The TXT file shows which BIN file was written last and how many write operations are still possible, counting down from 10000. Only Siemens can evaluate the BIN files.
Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be output with no reaction (N); in that case, too, no acknowledgement is required.
Why it appears
- The Data logger function is activated on the Sensor Module (p0437.0 = 1).
- A fault has occurred with the Sensor Module — the alarm signals that the diagnostics data corresponding to this fault was saved on the memory card.
What to check
- No remedial action is necessary for this alarm.
- The data logger has finished writing and is ready to record the next fault case.
- If the saved fault data is ever to be analyzed, only Siemens can evaluate the BIN files.
Parameters the manual names
- p0437 (Sensor Module configuration extended / SM config ext): with p0437.0 = 1 the Data logger function on the Sensor Module is activated — the setting under which the drive saves the diagnostics data and outputs this alarm.
Acknowledging and restarting
No acknowledgement is required. The alarm is withdrawn automatically once it has been output, and the data logger is then ready to record the next fault case.
The same on every family
Every manual that describes A33930 gives it the same reaction, acknowledgement and message class.
| Drive family | Reaction | Acknowledge | Message class | Component | Manual |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| S120, S150 | NONE | NONE | Error in the parameterization / configuration / commissioning procedure (18) | Sensor Module Encoder 3 | SINAMICS S120, S150 List Manual · p. 3181 |
| G130, G150 | NONE | NONE | Error in the parameterization / configuration / commissioning procedure (18) | Sensor Module Encoder 3 | SINAMICS G130, G150 List Manual · p. 1851 |

Questions technicians ask
What does alarm A33930 mean on a SINAMICS drive?
It reports that the Data logger function (p0437.0 = 1) was active, that a fault occurred on Sensor Module Encoder 3, and that the diagnostics data for this fault has been saved on the memory card. The alarm itself is not a fault.
Do I have to acknowledge A33930 or restart the drive?
No. The alarm requires no acknowledgement and is withdrawn automatically; the data logger is then ready to record the next fault case.
Where is the data belonging to A33930 stored?
On the memory card in /USER/SINAMICS/DATA/, as the files SMTRC00.BIN ... SMTRC07.BIN plus SMTRCIDX.TXT, which shows the last written BIN file and the remaining write operations counting down from 10000.
Can I evaluate the SMTRC...BIN files myself?
No. The manuals state that only Siemens can evaluate the BIN files; the TXT file only tells you which BIN file was written last and how many write operations remain.
