A32419Encoder 2: Track A or B outside tolerance

What it means

A32419 reports that a correction which the drive applies to the signals of Encoder 2 has reached its limit: the drive continuously corrects the amplitude, phase and offset of tracks A and B, and one of these corrections is now at the edge of its range. The alarm value stored in r2124 identifies which correction on which track is affected. Depending on the drive's configuration, the same condition can also be issued as a fault or with no reaction (N) instead of as this alarm.

Why it appears

  • One of the corrections the drive applies to the track A or track B signal of Encoder 2 — amplitude, phase or offset — has reached its limit.
  • The drive treats the correction as being at the limit when the amplitude error correction sits at Amplitude B / Amplitude A = 0.78 ... 1.27, when the phase falls below 84 degrees or rises above 96 degrees, or when the offset correction reaches +/-140 mV with an SMC20 or +/-650 mV with an SMC10.

What to check

  1. For encoders without their own bearings, for example toothed-wheel encoders, check the mechanical mounting tolerances.
  2. Check the plug connections, also with regard to transition resistance.
  3. Check the encoder signals.
  4. Replace the encoder or the encoder cable.
