; both describe the same condition on the same component. While the amplitude is outside the tolerance bandwidth, it cannot be used to initialize the start position. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be issued as a fault (F) or with no reaction (N).
Why it appears
- The signal level (C^2 + D^2) of track C or D of the encoder, or of the Hall signals, is not within the tolerance bandwidth.
- The nominal signal level of the encoder must lie in the range 375 mV to 600 mV (500 mV -25/+20 %). The drive responds when the level falls below 230 mV — there the frequency response of the encoder must be observed — or rises above 750 mV.
What to check
- Check that the encoder cables are routed in compliance with EMC.
- Check the plug connections.
- Replace the encoder or the encoder cable.
- Check the Sensor Module (e.g. the contacts).
- Check the Hall sensor box.
Reading the message value
- The drive stores the alarm value in r2124, to be interpreted hexadecimal as yyyyxxxx: yyyy is the signal level of track D (16 bits with sign), xxxx is the signal level of track C (16 bits with sign).
- The message value is printed as "C track: %1, D track: %2", so it reports the values of the C track and the D track.
- For scaling: a signal level of 500 mV peak value corresponds to the numerical value 5333 hex = 21299 dec.

- r2124 — alarm value: read it hexadecimal for this message; the first four hex digits (yyyy) hold the signal level of track D and the last four (xxxx) that of track C, each 16 bits with sign.
Acknowledging and restarting
As an alarm, A32414 requires no acknowledgement. If the drive is configured to output the same condition as a fault, it must be acknowledged immediately. For both variants the manuals specify no automatic stop response — the drive is not taken off line by the message itself; the fault variant is acknowledged right away, the alarm variant clears without acknowledgement.
