On the display
The panel shows Warning - Condenser - Liquid level stability; some displays and the manual's tables print it in capitals as WARNING - CONDENSER - LIQUID LEVEL STABILITY. It is a manual reset warning and, as the manual states, is only applicable to YK chillers.
What it means
This message reports that the condenser liquid level is not holding steady. After the chiller has been running for 30 minutes, the control monitors the minimum and maximum condenser liquid level over a 10 minute window, and repeats this window after window. When the difference between the minimum and maximum level stays greater than the Liquid Level Stability Threshold for three consecutive 10 minute windows — 30 consecutive minutes in total — the warning is displayed.
Why it appears
- The difference between the condenser liquid level minimum and maximum value has been greater than the Liquid Level Stability Threshold for 30 consecutive minutes, i.e. three consecutive 10 minute monitoring windows starting after the chiller has been running for 30 minutes.
Setpoints and thresholds
- Liquid Level Stability Threshold — programmable with JCI Service access on the condenser refrigerant level control screen, adjustable from 20% to 80%, with a default of 20%.
- Monitoring window length: 10 minutes; the warning is set after three consecutive windows (30 consecutive minutes) above the threshold.
- Monitoring starts once the chiller has been running for 30 minutes.
Reset and restart
This warning requires a manual reset, and it can only be reset once the difference between the minimum and maximum condenser liquid level has been less than the threshold for 10 minutes. The manuals describe the reset action in two ways: pressing the Clear button on the System Details Screen, or pressing the Warning Reset key. The warning can be reset when the difference is less than the threshold for 10 min and the Clear button on the System Details Screen is pressed.
Questions engineers ask
What does Warning - Condenser - Liquid level stability mean on a YORK YK chiller?
It means the difference between the condenser liquid level minimum and maximum has been greater than the Liquid Level Stability Threshold for three consecutive 10 minute windows — 30 consecutive minutes — starting after the chiller has been running for 30 minutes.
How do I reset the condenser liquid level stability warning?
Once the level difference has been less than the threshold for 10 minutes, press the Clear button on the System Details Screen; the other manual calls it the Warning Reset key. It is a manual reset warning, so it will not clear on its own.
What is the Liquid Level Stability Threshold on a YK chiller?
It is programmable with JCI Service access on the condenser refrigerant level control screen, over a range of 20% to 80%, with a default of 20%.
Does this warning apply to every YORK chiller?
No — the manual states this warning is only applicable to YK chillers.
