On the display
The panel shows Condenser - High pressure in the safety fault messages. The manufacturer's documents print the same text in three ways — Condenser - High pressure, Condenser - High Pressure and CONDENSER - HIGH PRESSURE — with identical wording and only the capitalisation differing. Do not confuse it with Condenser - High Pressure - Stopped, which the manuals list as a separate message.
What it means
This is a safety fault: the condenser pressure, as sensed by the condenser transducer, has risen above the trip threshold for this chiller's configuration. The chiller cannot be started again until the pressure has fallen back below the restart value for that configuration and the event has been cleared. The manual also distinguishes the moment of detection: a condenser high pressure fault detected while the chiller is in Pre-lube, System Run or Coastdown is handled in the normal way and does not require the special reset procedure. Where the Condenser Temperature Range setpoint is set to Extended, the release note lists CONDENSER - HIGH PRESSURE as a safety fault on YZ chillers and gives the trigger in absolute pressure rather than psig.
Why it appears
- The condenser pressure, as sensed by the condenser transducer, has increased to more than 180.0 psig.
- On extended condenser temperature applications the same trip is reached at 200.0 psig, and on high temperature heat pump applications at 364.0 psig.
- With the Condenser Temperature Range setpoint set to Extended (YZ chillers), the fault is triggered when the condenser pressure is equal to or higher than 53.7 psia.
Setpoints and thresholds
- Standard applications: trip when the pressure exceeds 180.0 psig; the chiller can be restarted once the pressure is less than 120.0 psig.
- Extended condenser temperature applications (condenser temperature range setpoint set to extended): trip/reset 200.0 psig/140 psig; restart below 140 psig.
- High temperature heat pump applications: trip/reset 364.0 psig/340.0 psig; restart below 340.0 psig.
- Extended-range release note (YZ chillers): trigger at a condenser pressure equal to or higher than 53.7 psia; released when the condenser pressure is less than 43.7 psia.
Reset and restart
Wait for the condenser pressure to fall below the restart value for the configuration, then clear the event at the display: You can start the chiller after the pressure decreases to less than 120.0 psig and the Clear button is pressed next to the listed event on the Systems Details Screen.
For extended condenser temperature applications the restart pressure is 140 psig, and for high temperature heat pump applications it is 340.0 psig. If the fault is detected while the chiller is in Pre-lube, System Run or Coastdown, it is handled in the normal way and does not require the special reset procedure.
