The control center shows Condenser - High Pressure - Stopped. The manuals for this chiller also print the same message as Condenser - High pressure - Stopped. It is listed among the safety fault messages and is the "Stopped" variant of the condenser high pressure shutdown.
What it means
This is an anticipatory safety fault: while the chiller is stopped, the condenser pressure has risen above the stopping threshold — 160.0 PSIG, or 240.0 PSIG on R22. The manual explains why the control watches for this during shutdown: condenser water at high temperature flowing through the condenser while the unit is shut down can build a condenser high pressure condition, and refrigerant can be lost as a result. The fault announces the condition in advance so that loss can be prevented. The manual notes this anticipatory fault applies only while the chiller is stopped.
Why it appears
- With the chiller stopped, the condenser pressure rises above 160.0 PSIG (240.0 PSIG with R22).
- Condenser water at high temperature flowing through the condenser during shutdown builds that pressure and the refrigerant charge can be lost — the fault exists to anticipate this problem.
Setpoints and thresholds
- Trip point while stopped: condenser pressure above 160.0 PSIG (240.0 PSIG with R22).
- Before a restart is possible, the condenser pressure must fall to less than 160.0 PSIG (240.0 PSIG with R22).
- For extended condenser temperature applications the trip/reset values are 170/170 PSIG.
- For high temperature heat pump applications the trip/reset values are 358.0 PSIG/358.0 PSIG.
- The CONDENSER TEMPERATURE RANGE setpoint governs this: at "Extended" the trip/reset threshold is 170 PSIG; at "Standard" it is unchanged.
Reset and restart
Restart is possible only once the condenser pressure has dropped below the threshold above and a service technician has carried out the special reset procedure:
- Set the COMPRESSOR switch to the Stop-reset position.
- Log in at the keypad at Service access level using the entry code the manual prints for this procedure.
- Open the COMPRESSOR screen.
- On the COMPRESSOR Screen, press the FAULT ACKNOWLEDGE key — a dialog box appears asking for
Enter Password to Clear Fault
