The control center shows CONDENSER - HIGH PRESSURE as a safety shutdown message. This wording is the only display form the manual gives for it. While the message is active the chiller is shut down, and it can only be started again once the pressure and clearing conditions described on this page are met.

What it means

The condenser pressure, as sensed by the Condenser Transducer, has increased to greater than 200 psig on shells with 235 psig DWP, or to greater than 295 psig on shells with 350 psig DWP. Because shells with 235 psig DWP and shells with 350 psig DWP trip at different pressures, the control determines the shell DWP by the condenser model number on the Sales Order Screen — which of the two thresholds applies to the machine depends on the condenser specified on the sales order.

Why it appears

  • Condenser pressure rising above the trip threshold — greater than 200 psig on shells with 235 psig DWP, or greater than 295 psig on shells with 350 psig DWP — as sensed by the Condenser Transducer. This is the only cause the manual lists for the message.

What to check

  1. Confirm which shell rating the control is using: it determines the shell DWP by the condenser model number on the Sales Order Screen, and the trip and restart pressures differ between shells with 235 psig DWP and shells with 350 psig DWP.
  2. Watch the condenser pressure and wait until it has fallen below the restart threshold for that shell rating before attempting to clear the fault.

The message does not clear by itself while the pressure is still high; the clear fault button must be pressed after the pressure has dropped. The chiller can be started after the pressure decreases to less than 140 psig for shells with 235 psig DWP and 235 psig for shells with 350 psig DWP and the clear fault button is pressed.
