F32896Encoder 2 DRIVE-CLiQ (CU): Inconsistent component properties

What it means

F32896 reports that the properties of the DRIVE-CLiQ component belonging to encoder 2 — the Sensor Module for encoder 2 — have changed in an incompatible fashion with respect to the properties that were present when the drive booted. The component concerned is the one whose number the fault value carries. Depending on how the drive is configured, the same condition can also be raised as an alarm or without any automatic reaction.

Why it appears

  • The properties of the Sensor Module for encoder 2, identified by the fault value, changed incompatibly compared with the properties recorded at boot.
  • One typical cause is that a DRIVE-CLiQ cable or a DRIVE-CLiQ component has been replaced.

What to check

  1. Carry out a POWER ON.
  2. If a component was replaced, use the same component type and, if possible, the same firmware version.
  3. If a cable was replaced, use only a cable whose length is the same as, or as close as possible to, the length of the original cable, and observe the maximum cable length.

Reading the message value

  • The drive enters the component number in the message value (placeholder %1).
  • The fault value is held in r0949 and is to be interpreted as a decimal number: the decimal value is the component number of the DRIVE-CLiQ component whose properties no longer match the boot properties.

Parameters the manual names

  • r0949 — fault value: read it interpreted as decimal to find the component number of the encoder 2 DRIVE-CLiQ component (Sensor Module) whose properties changed.

Acknowledging and restarting

The fault must be acknowledged immediately. The manual's remedy is to carry out a POWER ON. If the condition arose because a DRIVE-CLiQ component or cable was replaced, apply the replacement rules above first — the same component type and, if possible, the same firmware version for components, and a cable with the same or a very similar length as the original — and then perform the POWER ON.

What differs between the drive families

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F32896 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

It means the properties of the DRIVE-CLiQ component for encoder 2 (the Sensor Module) have changed incompatibly compared with the properties present at boot. The fault value identifies which component is affected.

Why does F32896 appear after I replaced a DRIVE-CLiQ cable or component?

Replacing a DRIVE-CLiQ cable or component is the example the manual itself gives, because the new properties differ from those recorded at boot. Use the same component type and firmware version, and a cable of the same or a very similar length as the original.

How do I clear fault F32896?

Acknowledge the fault immediately and carry out a POWER ON. If the condition came from a replacement, first make sure the component type, firmware version and cable length match the original as closely as possible.

Where can I see which component triggered F32896?

In r0949: interpreted as a decimal number, the fault value contains the component number of the affected Sensor Module for encoder 2.
