What it means

The Power Module has measured a voltage above the permitted upper threshold on its own power supply. On drive objects SERVO, SERVO_AC and SERVO_I_AC the manual titles the code Power unit: Overvolt 24/48 V — either the 24 V or the 48 V power supply has tripped, and the fault value names which. On the remaining drive objects the code is titled Power unit: Overvolt 24 V and only the 24 V power supply is involved. In both cases the drive executes an OFF2, i.e. it coasts down, and the fault is only acknowledged after POWER ON — the drive's power supply has to be switched off and back on.

Why it appears

  • For the power unit power supply, the upper threshold has been violated — the supply feeding the Power Module is above its permitted maximum.

What to check

  1. Read the fault value in r0949. On SERVO, SERVO_AC and SERVO_I_AC the channel byte yy = 0 identifies the 24 V power supply and yy = 1 the 48 V power supply, so you know which supply to look at; on the other drive objects the value is the 24 V voltage itself.
  2. Check the power supply of the power unit.

Reading the message value

  • SERVO, SERVO_AC, SERVO_I_AC: the message value reads Channel: %1, voltage: %2 [0.1 V]. The fault value in r0949 is interpreted in hexadecimal as yyxxxx hex, where yy is the channel and xxxx the voltage in [0.1 V]. yy = 0: 24 V power supply, yy = 1: 48 V power supply.
  • A_INF, B_INF, R_INF, S_INF, VECTOR, VECTOR_AC, VECTOR_I_AC and VECTOR_G: the fault value in r0949 is interpreted in decimal and gives the 24 V voltage in [0.1 V]; the message value carries this voltage as a single placeholder (%1).

  • r0949 (fault value) — read the code's value here: decode it in hexadecimal for SERVO, SERVO_AC and SERVO_I_AC (channel yy, voltage xxxx in [0.1 V]), or in decimal for the other drive objects (24 V voltage in [0.1 V]).

Acknowledging and restarting

This fault requires POWER ON to be acknowledged: after the power unit power supply has been checked and the overvoltage remedied, switch the drive's power supply off and back on. Acknowledging without cycling the power supply does not clear the fault; once it has gone, the drive can be started again.
