A35227EDS changeover/encoder data set change not supported

What it means

Alarm A35227 reports that the Terminal Module 41 (TM41) does not support the application case that has just occurred on the encoder interconnected via connector input p4420 — the input that carries the TM41 encoder emulation position setpoint. Either that encoder has carried out an EDS changeover, or it was re-parameterized so that its position actual value must be newly interpreted. In both cases the position actual value of the encoder, which is the position setpoint of the TM41, can change suddenly, and such a change must not be output at the TM41.

Why it appears

  • The encoder interconnected via connector input p4420 has carried out an EDS changeover.
  • The encoder interconnected with the TM41 was re-parameterized so that the position actual value of the encoder must be newly interpreted — for example when changing the direction of rotation of the motor (p0410, p1821) or when changing the fine resolution (p0418).

What to check

  1. Set connector input p4420 = 0.
  2. Re-wire the encoder interconnection to the TM41.

Parameters the manual names

  • p4420 — CI: TM41 encoder emulation position setpoint / Enc_emul s_set. This is the connector input that must be set to 0 as the remedy.
  • p0410 — Encoder inversion actual value / Enc inv ActV. Changing it re-parameterizes the encoder and is one of the changes that can raise this alarm.
  • p1821 — Direction / Direction. Changing the direction of rotation of the motor with this parameter is a named example that raises this alarm.
  • p0418 — Fine resolution Gx_XIST1 (in bits) / Enc fine Gx_XIST1. Changing the fine resolution is the other named example that raises this alarm.

Acknowledging and restarting

No acknowledgment is required. The remedy itself resolves the situation: set connector input p4420 = 0 and re-wire the encoder interconnection.

Questions technicians ask

What does SINAMICS alarm A35227 mean?

It reports that the Terminal Module 41 (TM41) does not support the application case that has just occurred on the encoder interconnected via connector input p4420: an EDS changeover, or a re-parameterization that forces the position actual value to be newly interpreted.

How do I clear alarm A35227?

Set connector input p4420 = 0 and re-wire. No acknowledgment is required.

Why did A35227 appear after changing the motor direction or the fine resolution?

Changing the direction of rotation (p0410, p1821) or the fine resolution (p0418) re-parameterizes the encoder so that its position actual value must be newly interpreted. The sudden change in position that can result must not be output at the TM41, so the drive raises the alarm.

Does A35227 stop the drive?

No. The drive takes no action in response to this alarm; it signals an unsupported TM41 configuration change that is corrected by setting p4420 = 0 and re-wiring.
