What it means
A33462 is raised for Encoder 3 when the analog sensor connected to it has no active signal channel: neither channel A nor channel B is switched on. The drive raises this while evaluating the encoder configuration, so it points at the sensor setup rather than at a measured fault. Depending on how the drive is configured, the manuals also allow the same condition to be output with no reaction (N). Because it is a configuration message, it does not trip the drive and needs no acknowledgement — it simply stays present until a channel is activated.
Why it appears
- Channel A and channel B are both switched off for the analog sensor on Encoder 3, so no channel of the sensor is active.
What to check
- Open p4670 (Analog sensor configuration) for Encoder 3 and activate channel A and/or channel B as the application requires.
- Then check the encoder configuration via p0404.17 to confirm the sensor setup is consistent.
Parameters the manual names
- p4670 — Analog sensor configuration: this is where channel A and/or channel B of the analog sensor is activated; it is the direct remedy for A33462.
- p0404 — Encoder configuration effective: use p0404.17 to check the encoder configuration as the second step of the remedy.
Acknowledging and restarting
No acknowledgement is required. The alarm goes away by itself once the cause is removed: channel A and/or channel B has been activated in p4670 and the encoder configuration has been checked via p0404.17.
The same on every family
Every manual that describes A33462 gives it the same reaction, acknowledgement and message class.

Questions technicians ask
What does SINAMICS alarm A33462 mean?
For Encoder 3, neither channel A nor channel B is activated for the connected analog sensor. The manuals treat it as a configuration and commissioning error, not a measured fault.
How do I fix A33462?
Activate channel A and/or channel B of the analog sensor in p4670, then check the encoder configuration via p0404.17.
Does A33462 need to be acknowledged?
No. The alarm requires no acknowledgement and clears by itself once a channel of the analog sensor is activated.
Which parameter activates the analog sensor channels for Encoder 3?
p4670 — the Analog sensor configuration. Both channel A and channel B were switched off there, which is exactly what A33462 reports.
