A32940 — Encoder 2: Spindle sensor S1 voltage incorrect

A32940 comes from Encoder 2 and reports that the voltage present at analog sensor S1 of the spindle sensor is outside the permissible range. The measured signal level is stored as the alarm value in r2124: interpreted as a decimal number, a signal level of 500 mV corresponds to the numerical value 500 dec. Depending on how the drive is configured, the same condition can also be output as fault F32940 or as a message with no reaction (N) instead of the alarm.

• The voltage of analog sensor S1 of the spindle sensor is outside the permissible range.

1. Check the clamped tool.
2. Check the tolerance of the spindle voltage threshold values and, if required, adapt it in p5040.
3. Check the threshold values and, if required, adapt them in p5041.
4. Check analog sensor S1 and its connections.

• The alarm value is stored in r2124 and is to be interpreted as a decimal number.
• r2124 contains the signal level from sensor S1; a signal level of 500 mV corresponds to the numerical value 500 dec.

• r2124 — alarm value: read it as a decimal number to see the signal level from sensor S1 that triggered A32940.
• p5040 — spindle voltage threshold values tolerance: check the tolerance for this code and, if required, adapt it.
• p5041 — spindle voltage threshold values: check the threshold values and, if required, adapt them.

As an alarm, A32940 requires no acknowledgement and the drive takes no automatic reaction to it; the message goes away once the voltage of analog sensor S1 is back within the permissible range. If the drive is configured to output the same condition as fault F32940 instead, the fault must be acknowledged immediately after the cause has been remedied; as a message without reaction (N) it also needs no acknowledgement.
