The panel prints the message exactly as Motor - Lack of bearing lubrication. The manual lists this text under both Cycling faults and Safety fault messages; the wording on the display does not change, but which list it falls under — and how the chiller behaves — depends on the motor auto lube type setpoint. The message appears after it has taken over the display from the earlier warning Warning - Motor bearing lube required.

The control center keeps a count of the operating hours since the last motor lubrication. Once those hours exceed the lube period setpoint plus 200, the warning stage is over and this shutdown is performed: the motor has run 200 operating hours past its lubrication setpoint without a lubrication being entered. With auto lube type P203 the message is treated as a cycling fault; with auto lube type none it is treated as a safety fault. The Motor Lube Shutdown Enhanced setpoint governs the safety variant: enabled, the safety shutdown occurs at the associated elapsed run times; disabled, a warning is displayed but the safety shutdown does not occur — and with auto lube type set to P203, disabling it changes this safety shutdown into a cycling shutdown.

1. Establish the motor auto lube type setpoint on the Setup Screen — none, P203, or Sleeve — because it decides whether this message is a cycling fault or a safety fault and which reset path applies. On chillers equipped with the QLS401 auto lube device this screen is not available, and the lubrication intervals are set internally to the lube system.
2. Check the Motor Lube Shutdown Enhanced setpoint. Enabled, the safety shutdown occurs at the associated elapsed run times; disabled, a warning is displayed but the safety shutdown does not occur. With auto lube type set to P203, setting it to disabled changes the safety shutdown into a cycling shutdown.
3. Compare the operating hours since last motor lubrication with the Lube Period Enhanced setpoint: the shutdown trips when the hours exceed the setpoint plus 200. The lube period is adjustable over the range of 750 hours to 15,000 hours and should match the motor lubrication requirement in the motor relubrication instruction in SI0305; the button does not display when motor auto lube type is set to Sleeve.
4. If auto lube type is P203, confirm whether the P203 auto luber has run through a lubrication cycle — when the P203 is installed and selected, the control center controls the lubrication interval, and the cycling shutdown remains in effect until that cycle has completed.

The reset path follows the auto lube type. With P203 selected, This cycling shutdown remains in effect until the P203 auto luber has completed a lubrication cycle — no operator action beyond letting that cycle finish is described. With auto lube type none, the safety shutdown remains in effect until the operator presses the Clear button next to the listed event on the Systems Details Screen and enters their initials, name, or user ID using the Motor Lube Acknowledge key on the Motor Lubrication Screen. The date and time of that entry are logged automatically as the date of last motor lubrication and the time of last motor lubrication, the entry clears any motor lubrication warning or safety in effect, and the operating hours since last lubrication reset to zero. The manual also records the date of the fault as the date of last motor lubrication fault.
