F32802 — Encoder 2: Time slice overflow

F32802 reports a time slice overflow in encoder 2: one of the processing time slices serving the encoder 2 function needed more time than its clock cycle provides. The drive stores the fault value in r0949, to be interpreted hexadecimal, so the function involved and the affected time slice can be identified. As a fault, the condition stops the drive (OFF1) and it must be acknowledged before the drive can run again. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be issued as an alarm (A) or as a message without reaction (N); in both of those cases the drive takes no automatic action and no acknowledgement is required.

• A time slice overflow has occurred in encoder 2 — a processing time slice of the encoder 2 function required more time than its clock cycle allows.

1. Read the fault value in r0949 and interpret it hexadecimal to identify the function involved and the time slice that overflowed (see the decoding below).
2. Increase the current controller sampling time — this is the remedy the manual gives for this fault.

The fault value is stored in r0949 and is interpreted hexadecimal:

• yx hex: y = function involved (Siemens-internal fault diagnostics), x = time slice involved
• x = 9: time slice overflow of the fast (current controller clock cycle) time slice
• x = A: time slice overflow of the average time slice
• x = C: time slice overflow of the slow time slice
• yx = 3E7: timeout when waiting for SYNO (e.g. unexpected return to non-cyclic operation)

• r0949 — fault value: read it hexadecimal to identify the function and the time slice involved in the encoder 2 time slice overflow.

Acknowledge the fault and then restart the drive. When the condition is configured as an alarm (A) or as a message without reaction (N), no acknowledgement is required. Apply the remedy — increasing the current controller sampling time — before returning the drive to service, so the overflow does not recur.
