F30835Power unit DRIVE-CLiQ: Cyclic data transfer error

What it means

F30835 reports that the cyclic data transfer over DRIVE-CLiQ between the Control Unit and the power unit concerned has failed: the two nodes no longer send and receive in synchronism. The S120/S150 and G130/G150 manuals describe the same condition for the Power Module, so the page applies to both in the same way. The message value tells you which component dropped out of the exchange and why — its decoding is given below. Because the drive switches the power unit off in response, it cannot restart until the cause is removed and the fault acknowledged.

Why it appears

  • A DRIVE-CLiQ communication error has occurred on the path from the Control Unit to the power unit concerned — the nodes do not send and receive in synchronism.
  • Which concrete failure occurred is coded as the fault cause in the message value (see the decoding below): a missing cyclic telegram or a timeout in the receive or send list.

What to check

  1. Read the message value in r0949 (or in r2124) and note the component number yy and the fault cause xx from the coding 0000yyxx hex.
  2. Carry out a POWER ON.
  3. If the fault occurs again, replace the component involved — the power unit or the Control Unit.

Reading the message value

  • The manual states that the message value consists of the component number (%1) and the fault cause (%2). It is coded in r0949/r2124 as 0000yyxx hex: yy = component number, xx = error cause.
  • xx = 33 (= 21 hex): the cyclic telegram has not been received.
  • xx = 34 (= 22 hex): timeout in the telegram receive list.
  • xx = 64 (= 40 hex): timeout in the telegram send list.

Parameters the manual names

  • r0949 — fault value: where the drive stores this fault's message value with component number and fault cause in the 0000yyxx hex coding.
  • r2124 — alarm value: named by the manual alongside r0949; the same coding of component number and fault cause can be read there.
  • p9916 — DRIVE-CLiQ data transfer error shutdown threshold slave (DQ fault slave): the G130/G150 entry cross-refers to this parameter in connection with this fault.

Acknowledging and restarting

The fault must be acknowledged immediately. Since the drive's response is an OFF2 — the power unit is switched off — the drive will not start again until the cause has been removed and the fault acknowledged. The manual's remedy is to carry out a POWER ON; if the fault then reappears, replace the component involved (power unit, Control Unit).

The same on every family

Every manual that describes F30835 gives it the same reaction, acknowledgement and message class.

Questions technicians ask

What does fault F30835 mean on a SINAMICS drive?

It reports a DRIVE-CLiQ communication error from the Control Unit to the power unit: the nodes no longer send and receive in synchronism, so the cyclic data exchange with the power unit has failed.

How do I fix F30835?

Carry out a POWER ON and acknowledge the fault immediately. If it occurs again, replace the component involved — the power unit or the Control Unit.

How can I see which component and fault cause F30835 reports?

Read the message value in r0949 or r2124: it is coded 0000yyxx hex, where yy is the component number and xx the fault cause — 33 = cyclic telegram not received, 34 = timeout in the telegram receive list, 64 = timeout in the telegram send list.

Is F30835 described differently for G130/G150 than for S120/S150?

Both manuals describe the same cyclic data transfer error between Control Unit and power unit with the same remedy; the G130/G150 entry additionally points to p9916, the DRIVE-CLiQ data transfer error shutdown threshold slave.
