A50020PNCOMM BOARD: Second controller missing

What it means

A50020 signals that the PROFINET function "Shared Device" has been activated, but only the connection to one PROFINET controller is present — the second controller the activated function expects is missing. On the G130 and G150 the manual prints the title "PNCOMM BOARD: Second controller missing" and locates the condition on the CBE20 communication board; on the G120 and G120C the title is "PROFINET: Second controller missing". The G120C instruction manual lists the alarm only briefly and refers to the List Manual for further information. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be output as fault F50020.

Why it appears

  • The PROFINET function "Shared Device" has been activated, but only the connection to one PROFINET controller is present. On the G130/G150 the activation is via p8829 = 2 on the CBE20 communication board; on the G120 it is via p8929 = 2.

What to check

  1. Check the configuration of the PROFINET controllers.
  2. Check the setting of the remote controller number — p8829 on the G130/G150, p8929 on the G120: the alarm is raised while this parameter is set to 2 and only one PROFINET controller is connected.

Parameters the manual names

  • p8829 — CBE2x remote controller number: on the G130/G150 this setting activates the PROFINET "Shared Device" function when set to 2; check it when A50020 appears on the CBE20.
  • p8929 — PN remote controller number: on the G120 this setting activates the PROFINET "Shared Device" function when set to 2; check it when A50020 appears.

Acknowledging and restarting

As an alarm, A50020 requires no acknowledgement; it goes away once the second PROFINET controller connection exists or the remote controller number setting has been corrected. If the drive is configured so that the same condition is output as fault F50020, then on the G130/G150 the drive does not stop automatically — no OFF1, OFF2 or OFF3 is issued for Vector drive objects, and no OFF1 or OFF2 for Infeeds — and the fault is acknowledged immediately (IMMEDIATELY).

What differs between the drive families

Straight from the manuals' own fields — A50020 is not described identically everywhere.

Questions technicians ask

What does alarm A50020 in SINAMICS mean?

It means the PROFINET function "Shared Device" is activated but only one PROFINET controller is connected — the second controller is missing. On the G130/G150 the alarm is titled "PNCOMM BOARD: Second controller missing", on the G120/G120C "PROFINET: Second controller missing".

Which parameter is behind alarm A50020?

The remote controller number: p8829 on the G130/G150 (CBE20) and p8929 on the G120. The alarm appears while this parameter is set to 2, which activates "Shared Device", and only one controller connection is present.

How do I clear alarm A50020?

Check the configuration of the PROFINET controllers and the remote controller number setting. As an alarm it needs no acknowledgement and clears itself once both controllers are connected or the setting has been corrected.

Does A50020 stop the drive?

No automatic stop is triggered. If the same condition is output as fault F50020 on the G130/G150, the drive still does not stop automatically (no OFF1, OFF2 or OFF3) and the fault is acknowledged immediately.
