What it means
A31930 (Encoder 1: Data logger has saved data) is a service message, not a fault in itself: while the function Data logger is activated (p0437.0 = 1), a fault has occurred with the Sensor Module, and the drive reports that the diagnostics data belonging to that fault was saved on the memory card. The data is written to /USER/SINAMICS/DATA/SMTRC00.BIN ... /USER/SINAMICS/DATA/SMTRC07.BIN, together with the index file /USER/SINAMICS/DATA/SMTRCIDX.TXT. Depending on the drive configuration, the same condition can also be output as a message without any reaction (N).
Why it appears
- The Data logger function is activated (p0437.0 = 1) and a fault has occurred with the Sensor Module.
- The alarm itself only confirms that the diagnostics data corresponding to that fault was saved on the memory card.
What to check
- No remedy is necessary — the alarm is withdrawn automatically and the data logger is ready to record the next fault case.
- If you want to see what was stored, look in /USER/SINAMICS/DATA/ on the memory card: SMTRCIDX.TXT shows the last written BIN file and the number of write operations that are still possible (counted downwards from 10000).
- The recorded data cannot be read locally:
Only Siemens can evaluate the BIN files.
Parameters the manual names
- p0437 (Sensor Module configuration extended / SM config ext): bit 0 = 1 switches the Data logger on; A31930 can only be issued while this function is active.
Acknowledging and restarting
No acknowledgement and no reset are required: the alarm disappears by itself once the data has been saved, and the data logger is immediately ready to record the next fault case.
The same on every family
Every manual that describes A31930 gives it the same reaction, acknowledgement and message class.

Questions technicians ask
What does A31930 Encoder 1: Data logger has saved data mean?
It reports that, with the Data logger function switched on (p0437.0 = 1), a fault occurred at the Sensor Module and the associated diagnostics data was saved on the memory card. It is a confirmation message, not a new fault.
How do I acknowledge or clear A31930?
You do not have to do anything: the alarm is withdrawn automatically and the data logger is ready to record the next fault case.
Where does SINAMICS store the Sensor Module diagnostics data of A31930?
On the memory card in /USER/SINAMICS/DATA/, as SMTRC00.BIN ... SMTRC07.BIN together with SMTRCIDX.TXT. The TXT file shows the last written BIN file and how many write operations are still possible, counting down from 10000.
Can I evaluate the SMTRC BIN files myself?
No. The manual notes that only Siemens can evaluate the BIN files.
