This configuration feature defines the dimensions of process connections. In relation to the flange connection, this is the nominal diameter of the flange. In EN 1092-1 these are labelled with DN and in ASME B16.5 with inch.

The nominal pressure rating indicates the maximum allowable pressure that a flange can bear. In EN 1092-1 it is labelled as PN and in ASME B16.5 as class. The higher the PN value or the class number, the higher the maximum allowable pressure that a flange can bear.
