Roll feed control system with SIMODRIVE 611 MCU
The MCU 172A motion control unit is a space-saving single-axis positioning control for the SIMODRIVE 611 digital drive system in conjunction with 1FT6/1FK6 motors. It can also be used in PPU MF units.
The MCU 172A combines the following functions in a single module:
- PLC functions (SIMATIC S7-314 with a 76 KB memory)
- Positioning functions for a position-controlled axis
- Standard drive control version (SIMODRIVE 611 digital)
- I/O module connection via SIMATIC S7 IM 360 I/O modules.
The MCU 172A plug-in unit is slotted into the power modules of the SIMODRIVE 611. It can be supplied by the OI or I/RF modules of the SIMODRIVE 611.
The MCU 172A system software is supplied on an on-board flash EPROM and is included in the scope of supply (can be upgraded with PC card if necessary). Programming devices such as the PG 740, for example, can be used with the STEP 7 and MCU-PIT software packages for parameterizing and starting up the MCU 172A.
This provides a convenient means of editing machine data and traversing programs. In addition to an integrated function machine control panel for traversing the axis, the start-up functions for SIMODRIVE 611 are also included for optimizing the axis in the MCU-PIT software.

- Operator panels OP7, OP17 and OP031 are available for implementation of the customized user interface.
