F31885Encoder 1 DRIVE-CLiQ (CU): Cyclic data transfer error

What it means

F31885 reports that the cyclic data exchange over DRIVE-CLiQ between the Sensor Module of encoder 1 and the Control Unit (CU) is disturbed: the two nodes no longer send and receive in synchronism, so the cyclic telegrams of the encoder are not transferred correctly. Depending on how the drive is configured, the same condition can also be output as an alarm or with no reaction at all instead of a fault.

Why it appears

  • A DRIVE-CLiQ communication error has occurred on the path from the Sensor Module (encoder 1) involved to the Control Unit — the nodes do not send and receive in synchronism.
  • Which form the disturbance takes is recorded as the fault cause in the message value: a missing sign-of-life bit with a receive telegram arriving too early, a cyclic telegram that was never received, a timeout in the receive or send list, or an error at the transition to cyclic operation (see the fault value decoding below).

What to check

  1. Read the coded message value in r0949 (or in r2124 if the drive raised the condition as an alarm): its form 0000yyxx hex tells you the component involved (yy) and the fault cause (xx).
  2. Check the power supply voltage of the component involved.
  3. Carry out a POWER ON — switch the converter off and on again.
  4. Replace the component involved if the fault returns.
  5. On the G130 and G150 the remedy additionally refers to p9915, the DRIVE-CLiQ data transfer error shutdown threshold for the master — take the threshold configured there into account when evaluating the error.

Reading the message value

The message value contains the component number and the fault cause. The drive codes both pieces of information in the fault value r0949 / alarm value r2124 as 0000yyxx hex: yy is the component number, xx the error cause.

  • 26 (= 1A hex) — sign-of-life bit in the receive telegram not set and the receive telegram is too early.
  • 33 (= 21 hex) — the cyclic telegram has not been received.
  • 34 (= 22 hex) — timeout in the telegram receive list.
  • 64 (= 40 hex) — timeout in the telegram send list.
  • 98 (= 62 hex) — error at the transition to cyclic operation.
