A01789SI: Automatic test stop and brake test when test stop is selected not permitted

What it means

Alarm A01789 says that the parameter assignment combines two SI functions that may not be used together: the automatic test stop, parameterized in p9507.6 (Control Unit) and p9307.6 (MM), and the brake test that is carried out when a test stop is selected, selected with p10203 = 2. Because this combination is not permissible, the drive does not carry out the test stop automatically when it powers up.

Why it appears

  • The automatic test stop (p9507.6 on the Control Unit, p9307.6 on the MM) is parameterized together with the brake test that is carried out when a test stop is selected (p10203 = 2); this parameter assignment is not permissible.
  • As a consequence, the test stop is not automatically carried out when powering up.

What to check

  1. Check the parameter assignment of the automatic test stop in p9507.6 (Control Unit) and p9307.6 (MM) together with the SBT control selection in p10203.
  2. Correct the parameter assignment: either set p10203 to a value other than 2, or deactivate the automatic test stop.
  3. Then perform a warm restart or POWER ON, because only after this does the drive carry out the automatic test stop.

Parameters the manual names

  • p9507 — SI Motion function specification (Control Unit): p9507.6 parameterizes the automatic test stop whose combination with p10203 = 2 triggers this alarm.
  • p9307 — SI Motion function configuration MM: p9307.6 is the corresponding automatic test stop setting on the MM.
  • p10203 — SI Motion SBT control selection: value 2 selects the brake test when a test stop is selected; to resolve the alarm it must be set to a value other than 2, or the automatic test stop must be deactivated.

Acknowledging and restarting

This alarm requires no acknowledgment. What matters is the closing note of the entry: A warm restart or POWER ON is required to carry out the automatic test stop. After correcting the parameter assignment, the automatic test stop is therefore only performed again once the drive has been restarted in this way.

Questions technicians ask

What does SINAMICS alarm A01789 mean?

The parameter assignment combines the automatic test stop (p9507.6 / p9307.6) with the brake test that is carried out when a test stop is selected (p10203 = 2), and this combination is not permissible. The test stop is therefore not carried out automatically at power-up.

How do I clear alarm A01789?

Correct the parameter assignment: either set p10203 to a value other than 2 or deactivate the automatic test stop. A warm restart or POWER ON is then required before the automatic test stop is carried out.

Why is the automatic test stop not performed when my drive powers up?

Because A01789 is active: the combination of the automatic test stop with the brake test selected via p10203 = 2 is not permissible, so the drive skips the automatic test stop at power-up until the parameterization is corrected.

Does A01789 have to be acknowledged?

No. The alarm requires no acknowledgment; after correcting the parameters, a warm restart or POWER ON is required to carry out the automatic test stop.
