Pressure gauge per EN 837-1 with mounted diaphragm seal

The scale range of a pressure gauge defines the scale start value and full scale value of the scale printed on the dial of the pressure gauge. The correct scale range depends on the process pressure of the respective application and the process conditions. There are predefined standard scale ranges for pressure gauges in accordance with European and American standards. For special display ranges, please contact WIKA support. Ideally, the process pressure of the application should be approx. 2/3 of the full scale value of the pressure gauge. Example: For a process pressure of 40 bar, for example, a pressure gauge with a scale range of 0 to 60 bar would therefore be recommended.

The process connection standard defines how the diaphragm seal is connected to the customer process. To define this, it is important to know the counterpart in the application. This configuration feature defines the dimensions of process connections. In relation to the flange connection, this is the nominal diameter of the flange. In EN 1092-1 these are labelled with DN and in ASME B16.5 with inch.

The nominal pressure rating indicates the maximum allowable pressure that a flange can bear. In EN 1092-1 it is labelled as PN and in ASME B16.5 as class. The higher the PN value or the class number, the higher the maximum allowable pressure that a flange can bear. The following must be taken into account: The maximum allowable effective pressure on the flange also depends on the process temperature. The following principle applies: The higher the temperature, the lower the strength of the materials and the lower the pressure resistance of the flange.
