Simplex 4100ES — Short Circuit

The panel shows Short Circuit. This is the only form the manual prints for the message — there are no wording variants. The fault is also signalled on the SPS itself: the yellow LED5, which indicates IDNet status, is normally off and blinks fast while the short circuit fault is present. On the same LED, a slow blink indicates a Class A open circuit fault instead, so the blink speed tells the two faults apart.

A short circuit fault is detected on the IDNet channel — the communications channel that links the panel to its addressable devices such as detectors and manual call points. The manual classifies Short Circuit as an IDNet channel status message and lists it in the panel's SPS and IDNet troubleshooting tables. It is a fault condition of the channel itself, so the message stays on the display while the short is present.
