YORK YMC2 — SALES ORDER - INVALID COMPRESSOR MODEL

The panel shows the safety shutdown SALES ORDER - INVALID COMPRESSOR MODEL. One of the model's manuals prints the same message as SALES ORDER - INVALID compressor MODEL; the wording is identical apart from the lower-case compressor. The message belongs to the safety shutdown group of the chiller control and stays set until the Compressor Model entry conforms to the expected format and the fault is cleared.

This shutdown is set when the Compressor Model field entered in the control does not conform to the format the control expects. The field is a coded string built from MOTOR, MOTOR REV, SS/LS IMP DIAM, SS/LS ROTATION, SS/LS IMP REV and SS/LS FLOW REV; the manual whose layout runs to position 15 adds HS imp. dia., HS rotation, HS imp. rev and HS flow rev. The correct characters come from the compressor nameplate. The control uses specific characters from this field to determine control parameters and methods.

• Manual with the nine-position layout: the shutdown is initiated if MOTOR is anything other than M1, if MOTOR REV is anything other than B, or if the character between positions 3 and 4 is not a dash.
• Same manual: SS/LS IMP DIAM may only be 164, 174, 186, 197 or 205; SS/LS ROTATION only F; SS/LS IMP REV only a character A through Z; SS/LS FLOW REV only a character A through B.
• Manual with the fifteen-position layout: the shutdown is set if Motor is anything other than M2 or M6, if Motor rev is anything other than C, or if the character between positions 3 and 4 is not a dash.
• Same manual: SS/LS imp. dia. may only be 164, 174, 186, 197, 205, 218, 233, 246, 275, 295 or 331; SS/LS rotation only F; SS/LS imp. rev only the character A; SS/LS flow rev only the character C.
• The fifteen-position manual additionally sets the shutdown when the motor model is invalid and when the impeller/motor combination is not one of the pairings the manual tabulates as valid.

1. Open the Sales Order screen — reached as the Setpoints - Setup - Sales Order screen in one manual — and read the Compressor Model field entered there.
2. Take the compressor nameplate: both manuals state the data for this field is found there if it ever needs re-entry in the control.
3. Compare the motor characters: in the nine-position layout MOTOR must be M1 and MOTOR REV must be B; in the fifteen-position layout Motor must be M2 or M6 and Motor rev must be C.
4. Check that the character between positions 3 and 4 is a dash.
5. Check SS/LS IMP DIAM: 164, 174, 186, 197 or 205 in the nine-position layout; 164, 174, 186, 197, 205, 218, 233, 246, 275, 295 or 331 in the fifteen-position layout.
6. Check SS/LS ROTATION (F in both manuals), SS/LS IMP REV (A through Z, or A only) and SS/LS FLOW REV (A through B, or C only), each against the rule of the layout the panel uses.
7. In the fifteen-position layout, confirm the motor model is valid and the impeller/motor pairing appears among the combinations the manual tabulates.
8. Correct every character that does not conform, then clear the fault and restart the chiller as described below.

• Screen: the field is entered on the Setpoints - Setup - Sales Order screen; the other manual calls it the Sales Order screen.
• Layout: the shorter format is printed against positions 1 through 9 and shows a dash between positions 3 and 4; the longer format runs to position 15, shows a further dash between positions 9 and 10, and carries the HS characters after the SS/LS ones.
• Data source: the compressor nameplate, which the manuals name as the place to take the characters from if the field ever needs re-entry in the control.
• Valid pairings: the fifteen-position manual tabulates all valid impeller and motor combinations in two tables, headed Single stage and Two stage; a pairing outside those tables is itself a trigger for this shutdown.

The shutdown releases once the Compressor Model characters have been corrected so that none of the listed conditions is true any more. The CLEAR FAULTS button — on the Home screen in one manual, described as the clear faults button on the OptiView panel in the other — is then pressed and the chiller started. One manual summarises the sequence: The fault is released when the values have been corrected. The chiller can be restarted after the clear faults button is pressed.
