On the display
The panel shows VSD - Phase A, B, or C input DCCT. This is one of the variable speed compressor drive safety fault messages for this chiller: the message names one of the input phases to the VSD — A, B, or C — and it applies to HYP model drives.
What it means
For HYP model drives, this shutdown determines if the cable at the input DCCT is connected. To do that, the drive measures the input current in each phase to the VSD during the precharge time. If the input current does not exceed 5 A in each phase, the shutdown is generated. In other words, a phase that stays at 5 A or less while the drive is precharging is treated as having no cable connected at the input DCCT, and the drive shuts down on this safety fault.
Why it appears
- The input current in the phase named by the message did not exceed 5 A during the precharge time.
- The drive reads that low reading as the cable at the input DCCT not being connected — this is the condition the shutdown is designed to detect.
What to check
- Check that the cable at the input DCCT is connected; this connection is exactly what the shutdown tests during the precharge time.
Setpoints and thresholds
- Current threshold: the shutdown is generated when the input current to the VSD does not exceed 5 A in a phase.
- Measurement window: the precharge time.
- Applicability: HYP model drives.
Questions engineers ask
What does VSD - Phase A, B, or C input DCCT mean on a YORK YK chiller?
It is a VSD safety shutdown listed for HYP model drives. During the precharge time the drive measures the input current in each phase, and it generates this shutdown when the current in a phase does not exceed 5 A — its test for whether the cable at the input DCCT is connected.
Why does the VSD - Phase A, B, or C input DCCT shutdown occur?
Because the input current to the VSD did not exceed 5 A in the reported phase during the precharge time, so the drive determined that the cable at the input DCCT is not connected.
What current threshold is behind the VSD - Phase A, B, or C input DCCT message?
Each input phase to the VSD must carry more than 5 A during the precharge time. A phase at 5 A or below generates this shutdown.
Does this fault apply to every drive on a YORK YK chiller?
No. The manual lists VSD - Phase A, B, or C input DCCT for HYP model drives only.
