What it means
When power is applied, the flip dot should turn black. With this condition it does not: the dot either never turns black, or it flips from black to red instead. The manual traces the condition to the 24 VDC supply on the 031-03958 board, to the sensor bases and sensors, to the L1 wire at TB1, or to the board itself.
Why it appears
- 24 VDC is not present between TB1 terminals R and L, or at TB1 terminal L1, on the 031-03958 board.
- The sensor bases are wired incorrectly, or the sensors are not installed correctly into their bases.
- The L1 wire at TB1 is installed incorrectly, or wire insulation is present in the terminal.
- The 031-03958 board has failed.
What to check
- Measure the DC voltage between TB1 terminals R and L on the 031-03958 board.
- If the reading is 24 VDC, replace the 031-03958 board.
- If the reading is not 24 VDC, measure the DC voltage at TB1 terminal L1 on the 031-03958 board.
- At the same time, confirm that the sensor bases are wired correctly and that each sensor is installed correctly into its base.
- If the voltage at TB1 terminal L1 is still not 24 VDC, remove the TB1 connector.
- Re-measure the DC voltage at TB1 terminal L1 on the 031-03958 board with the connector removed.
- If this second reading is 24 VDC, check that the L1 wire on TB1 terminal L1 is fitted correctly and that no wire insulation is caught in the terminal.
- If the reading is still not 24 VDC, replace the 031-03958 board.
- If the problem is still not solved after all of this, contact PTS.
