The display shows Manual Override Fault. The manual prints the message only in this wording. It appears after an output point has been turned on or off directly from the panel keys, and it remains while that control point is out of the AUTO state.
What it means
The manual calls this message a reminder, not a report of a device failure. It means that an output point — a notification device or a relay — has been manually turned ON or OFF and is no longer under automatic panel control. The panel generates the fault every time an output point is turned on or off from the keys, so the operator does not forget that the system no longer controls that point by itself.
Why it appears
- An output point was forced ON: the point was selected, the ON key was pressed, and ENTER confirmed the operation.
- An output point was forced OFF: the point was selected, the OFF key was pressed, and ENTER confirmed the operation.
- The manual lists no other cause — the message is generated whenever a control point is taken out of the AUTO state.
What to check
- Press the FAULT ACK key to acknowledge the fault.
- Identify the overridden point: select it, for example by repeatedly pressing FAULT ACK until the point is displayed. Chapter 5 of the manual covers selecting points.
- Decide what the point's normal state is. Most control points belong back in AUTO, but control points that are normally off — for example the Sonalert (buzzer) Inhibit point P198 — must later be restored to off, not to auto.
- To return the point to automatic operation, press the AUTO key and then the ENTER key.
- If the point is a normally-off control point such as P198, press the OFF key and then the ENTER key instead, so the point ends up off as it was found.
Reset and restart
The manual's recovery sequence: acknowledge the fault by pressing the FAULT ACK key, then select the point and press the AUTO key and the ENTER key to put it back under automatic control. A fault exists if any control point is taken out of the AUTO state
— returning the point to AUTO is what clears the override condition the message is reminding you about. For normally-off control points such as the Sonalert (buzzer) Inhibit point P198, finish with the OFF key and ENTER rather than AUTO, restoring the point to off.
