| Circuit breaker has automatically tripped open | The drive circuit breaker has tripped open; the trip must be traced to either the Smart Sensor System or an over current / ground fault. | If the SSS indicator is Black: the circuit breaker has tripped due to an over current, or ground fault. If the SSS indicator is Red: the SSS has indicated a fault. | Perform Safe Entry Procedure. Find the SSS indicator and check its color. Red: contact JCI Service for a proper evaluation of this fault. Black (over current / ground fault path): perform resistance test on input power fuses; validate all of the circuit breaker settings match the setting found in the referenced service manual (refer to forms 160.78-M3 for M1 motor application, 160.84-M3 for M2 and M6 application, or 160.00-M10 for YK applications); inspect the VSD for visible signs of a ground fault, such as the input inductor, input capacitor assembly, and rectifier assembly; perform megger test on input inductors, testing phase to phase and phase to ground, replace inductor if required; inspect the common mode fuses — if any opened, ensure customer power wiring for ground and neutral are correct and replace failed fuses; inspect the common mode and input capacitors for any signs of damage or overheating and replace components as needed; perform resistance tests on all rectifiers and inverters and replace any failed parts. If all power fuses failed: replace all of the power fuses and all of the rectifier assemblies (and replace the inverter where the inverter resistance test failed). If only some power fuses failed: replace all of the power fuses and replace the rectifier assemblies in the phases where the power fuses failed (and replace the inverter where the test failed). Then begin the repairs. | 3 |
