NU-NCM300-1 to NU-NCM350-1 Upgrade Kit
Notes: Models NU-NCM300-0 and NU-NCM311-0 cannot be upgraded
in the field. To upgrade these units or units with earlier revision
levels than those listed below, contact the Repair Center. European
branches contact the Essen, Germany facility.
To complete the NU-NCM 300-1 to NU-NCM350-1 field upgrade,
the NCM must have one of the following, or later, revision levels:
Table 1: NCM Code Numbers and Revision Levels
NCM Code Number Revision Level
NU-NCM300-1 or NU-NCM300-2 Revision B or later
NU-NCM300-701 or NU-NCM300-702 Revision B or later
This procedure also applies to the upgrade of an NU-NCM311-1 (or later
revision) to an NU-NCM361-1. See the Network Control Module
300 Series Technical Bulletin (LIT-6360251) for more details.
! CAUTION: Equipment damage hazard. Do not touch the edge
of the NU-ROM150-1 connectors (contact fingers).
Touching the invisible coating along the edge of the

4. Observe placement of the ROM101 in the NCM and note the two tabs
on either side of the SIMM connector. Remove the ROM101 from the
NCM300 and discard it.
5. Insert the ROM150 into the NCM300, and make sure the tabs on both
sides of the ROM150 memory module socket snap into the holes of
the ROM150 (see A and B in Figure 1). When the ROM150 is in
place, it should be vertical, not angled.
! CAUTION: Equipment damage hazard. A ROM101 or
ROM150 must be installed before powerup of an
NCM. If either is not installed on powerup, the
DRAM and NOVRAM on the NCM may become
corrupt. If the NOVRAM is corrupt, the NCM must
be replaced!
6. Reinstall the cardboard insulator and the ISA Slot/Comm Port cover.
7. Apply the new NCM350 label over the old label.
8. Restore power to the NCM.
9. Download the NCM.
10. Reconnect the battery pack.
